Science, Technology, Engineering and Math

I just got back from the STEM conference in Baltimore, Maryland where I moderated a workshop about health careers.  About 300 students showed up to learn more about jobs in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math. The distinguished panel of experts featured a wide range of professionals in medicine, nursing, dentistry, laboratory science and physical therapy.  Many of the middle and high school students were curious about education and salaries but most surprisingly, had questions about how doctors handle the death of patients.
How encouraging to see so many young people excited about pursuing careers in health and science!
A special thank you to New Psalmist Baptist Church for hosting this well needed event and the Sankofa Community Development Corporation for sponsoring the STEM conference.
